Yesterday I bought my first ever song online. It’s a remix by a young artist with huge potential, one of whom i have great respect for.
The reason for this was due to a post i read online about another artist who made enough online sales of his music to pay off the mortgage on his house, and i never realised that around 40% of the sales made online go directly to the artist.
I don’t understand why I hesitated so much before buying it, as I have no problem buying CD’s in stores. The truth is you pay twice as much buying a CD just so you can rip the songs onto your itunes and put the original CD in your cupboard never to be seen again. I felt somewhat satisfied that my $1.49 (which will end up being less that 70c to the artsit) can help him pay for a few strawberry clouds.
